Philosophy Building with American Flag

By making the decision to embark on graduate study, you’ve decided that your profession is a life’s calling and you want to be the very best at it. Catholic University treasures its graduate students. We were founded in 1887 as the first Catholic graduate research institution in the United States, and we haven’t forgotten our roots. Our graduate students make up just about half of our student population of more than 6,500.

Graduate students can study within 94 master’s degree programs and 40 doctoral programs in 12 schools. While the fields of study are unique and diverse, all graduate students at Catholic University have a common bond. They belong to a community of scholars who share a commitment to using their advanced knowledge and skills to serve humanity.

That’s why you will find our law students donating thousands of hours in the Columbus School of Law’s many pro bono legal clinics, and why you’ll find doctoral students in the Department of Biology’s Bacteriophage T4Lab working day and night as they move ever closer to discovering effective vaccines for complex infectious agents, and why our master’s students at the National Catholic School of Social Service are answering Pope Francis’s call to stop human trafficking by working to change policy and further a national dialogue.

A rich Catholic intellectual tradition informs all of the University’s graduate programs from philosophy to theology to physics to nursing. All of our graduate students work closely with faculty mentors who model the belief that scholarship at the highest level, no matter the discipline, serves society.
