The third annual Cardinals Tribute Dinner, held June 4, 2018, at the Edward J. Pryzbyla University Center, celebrated the remarkable generosity of the Catholic University community. More than 7,800 donors contributed gifts totaling nearly $63.7 million during the prior fiscal year – the best fundraising year in University history. All gifts will be transformative, providing unique opportunities to Catholic University students, present and future.
While gifts of all sizes and types are appreciated, the annual event specifically highlights several of the fiscal year’s extraordinary gifts. Religious and lay members of the Board of Trustees, divisional Boards of Visitors, senior University leadership, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends all gather to express our appreciation and share the inspiring stories of impact.
The night's guests included six American Cardinals: Cardinal Blase J. Cupich, Archbishop of Chicago; Cardinal Daniel N. DiNardo, Archbishop of Galveston-Houston; Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York; Cardinal Séan P. O'Malley, Archbishop of Boston; Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin, Archbishop of Newark; and Cardinal Donald W. Weurl, Archbishop of Washington, D.C.
Rosalind Flynn, B.A. 1978, head of the Catholic University Master of Arts in Theatre Education programs, was master of ceremonies. Music was provided by Benjamin T. Rome School of Music, Drama, and Art Class of 2019 student Austin Visk, and an after-party featured a live broadcast of the Washington Capitals winning game four of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
