The Ciocca Center for Principled Entrepreneurship at The Catholic University of America’s Busch School of Business is pleased to announce Father Robert Sirico, founder and President Emeritus of the Acton Institute, as the center’s newest Distinguished Fellow

Distinguished Fellows of the Ciocca Center are persons recognized for their outstanding intellectual and practical contributions to Principled Entrepreneurship or for having advanced the understanding of how to apply Catholic Social Teaching to the fields of business and entrepreneurship.

“I’m delighted to be able to call on Father Sirico’s wisdom and experience to advance our mission,” said Ciocca Center founder and director, Andreas Widmer. “He is a wonderful addition to an outstanding group of men and women committed to help us champion the human person in the fields of business and economics.”

“Decades ago, Father Sirico saw that Christians and Church institutions with a heart for the poor would not be able to contribute effective solutions to social problems   without a deeper grounding in economic principles, and he set out to fill that educational gap,” Widmer continued. “I’ve benefited tremendously from his work, as have many of my colleagues, so we are delighted to have him as a trusted advisor as a Distinguished Fellow.”

The Arthur and Carlyse Ciocca Center for Principled Entrepreneurship was founded in 2015 as a center of research and practice within the Busch School of Business. It is dedicated to promoting enterprise solutions to poverty, and to enriching and renewing the practice of entrepreneurship through innovative teaching, research, and putting the principles of Catholic social teaching into action.

Father Sirico was named a Distinguished Fellow while in town on February 24 for the dedication of a drawing by Chinese entrepreneur and political prisoner Jimmy Lai, whose trial in Hong Kong Father Sirico had recently attended.
