Reporting Legal, Ethical, or Policy Issues

What should I report? Catholic University community members are prohibited from violating applicable laws, regulations, and policies. All University policies are published at policies.catholic.edu. If you suspect that a law or policy isn’t being followed, or that something is just not right, you should report it.

Where do I make a report? In most cases the University’s Director of Compliance, Ethics, and Privacy can serve as your initial point of contact: cua-compliance@cua.edu or 202-319-6170. He will either handle the report or direct it to the appropriate responsible official at the University. However, in case of an emergency contact the Department of Public Safety at 202-319-5111.

What if I am retaliated against for reporting? All good faith reports, whether or not they turn out to be true, can be made free from fear of retaliation in accordance with the University’s Non-Retaliation Policy. Any individual engaged in retaliation is subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.

What if I want to report anonymously? Use the Compliance and Ethics Helpline or toll free at 855-350-9396. The Helpline is administered by a third party, not the University, and you have the option to make your report anonymously.

I just need guidance on a policy, law, or compliance issue, who do I talk to? The University’s Director of Compliance, Ethics, and Privacy can serve as your initial point of contact: cua-compliance@cua.edu or 202-319-6170, and you can also contact the Office of General Counsel, cua-ogc@cua.edu or (202) 319-5142.
